Parkland Community Assn. is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization with the purpose of educating the public in the need for community-wide interest, concern, and involvement to ensure a quality, livable community in the Parkland, Washington area, and to provide charitable assistance as allowed by state and federal laws. After a grassroots effort supported by thousands of community members, the PCA saved the historic 1908 Parkland School from demolition and acquired the building, transforming it into the Parkland Community Center. Our vision is to create a welcoming place where neighbors connect, local organizations collaborate, and community needs are met. The Parkland Community Center is being developed to provide affordable gathering spaces, support community services offered by both our resident organizations and community partners, and serve as a home for educational opportunities, arts and culture, recreation, and community events. We are actively preserving this historic building so it can continue to serve Parkland for generations to come. Volunteers are at the heart of everything we do. Whether helping with grant writing and fundraising, representing PCA through outreach at our events or other community gatherings, facility improvements, administrative support, or sharing professional skills and expertise, every volunteer plays a vital role in transforming the Parkland Community Center into a thriving local hub and strengthening Parkland. We welcome individuals, families, students, retirees, civic groups, corporate volunteer teams, and anyone with time on their hands who wants to make a lasting impact in the community! Together, we grow!

Since acquiring the historic 1908 Parkland School building in 2024, the Parkland Community Association (PCA) has been transforming it into the Parkland Community Center (PCC)—a growing hub for community organizations, programs, and events. Through partnerships with resident organizations such as Family Promise of Puget Sound, Tahoma Northwest, and the Kiwanis Club of Parkland-Spanaway, along with many community partners, the PCC continues to expand its impact. We have hosted community events through our programming such as past Rummage and Bake sales, the yearly Parkland Holiday Groove and Giving event, partnerships with our PCC gym being active with many youth sports organizations, as well as hosting various community gatherings such as the South Sound Makers Market's yearly Haunted Market. The Parkland Community Center is 100% volunteer-run. As we continue restoration of the building, we're working toward fully opening it for broader public use. In order to accomplish that, we need additional volunteer support. Our volunteers contribute to facility improvements (including painting and drywall repair), neighborhood beautification and safe streets initiatives, community cleanups, educational outreach, fundraising, event support, administrative projects, and much more. All of these areas of work are essential to ensure the building remains both functional and welcoming for local residents and future tenants.
