Ability to: Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing; Ability to pay attention to detail and follow directions; Ability to deal courteously with the public under stress; Establish and maintain positive, effective working relationships with members of the Puyallup Police Department, VIPS, business community and the public; Attend meetings relevant to assigned volunteer duties;Special Qualifications: Ability to pass a criminal background check, which includes finger printing. Successful completion of training and observation hours with a seasoned VIPS team member. Ability to travel to events within Puyallup Possession of or the ability to obtain a valid Washington State Driver’s license, as required for the position.

Volunteer: Citizens' PatrolTITLE: Citizen Patrol VIPS ESSENTIAL FUNCTION: Assist the Puyallup Police Department by monitoring/patrolling city streets, parking areas and areas identified by Predpol.DUTIES: Patrol in teams of two; Patrol areas identified on the PredPol Report; Record, in writing, all shift activity on the Vehicle Inspection Form; Report issues warranting officer involvement to Dispatch; Serve as a goodwill ambassador for the Puyallup Police Department
QUALITICATIONS: Operation of personal computers; Proper English grammar, usage, and spelling; Must be 18 years or olderAbility to: Maintain the confidentiality of criminal and other police records; Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing; Ability to pay attention to detail; Ability to deal courteously with the public under stress; Establish and maintain positive, effective working relationships with members of the Puyallup Police Department, VIPS, business community and the public; Attend meetings relevant to assigned VIPS work; Accurately file documents.
