Food Bank Workers keep a consistent flow of goods through the food bank to assure that our clients in need of food are served to the best of our ability. The Food Bank is an important part of our fight to provide basic human needs in the City of Tacoma.

Reports to: Heather Wiley

Location: The Salvation Army of Tacoma Food Bank 

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Sorting and preparing bulk foods and produce in preparation for distribution to clients
  • Mopping floors, cleaning shelves, cleaning refrigeration and freezer units
  • Stocking shelves
  • Personally assist clients as they shop
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Complete all aspects of the volunteer application before starting service, including clearance of background check
  • Must be 16 years of age or older
  • Be able to lift at least 10 pounds to waist level
  • Be courteous and respectful to clients, staff, volunteers and other visitors to our campus
  • Excellent de-escalation skills
  • Follow policies and procedures as outlined by The Salvation Army Tacoma Corps Volunteer Handbook
