READ United: Summer Program - Tyler Street Family Campus/The Lodge at Madrona

Description

Join us for Read United: Summer

and help STOP the ‘Summer Slide’!

Did you know that children can lose up to two months of learning over the summer break?  It’s called the ‘Summer Slide’.  United Way of Pierce County is partnering with local schools and summer meal sites to provide free summer learning activities all summer long to help stop the ‘summer slide’.

WHAT:  SUMMER LEARNING 2017 - Tyler Street Family Campus/The Lodge at Madrona

WHEN:  Thursdays from June 29th through August 24th

Meal sites run from 11:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

It’s a great way to spend your lunch hour!

United Way staff and volunteers will be giving away FREE books for children with limited access to books over the summer break. Volunteers can read with children and help them choose books. We will be serving two adjacent meal sites - Tyler Street Family Campus from 11:15-11:45 a.m. and The Lodge at Madrona from 12:00-12:30 p.m. Volunteers will assist with moving supplies from one site to another in between meal site times.
