Operation Homefront

Operation Homefront (OH) was established in 2002 in the aftermath of 9/11. Since, OH has supported the military community by building strong, stable, and secure military families so they can thrive – not simply struggle to get by – in the communities they have worked so hard to protect. OH is headquartered in San Antonio, TX and Arlington, VA and has field offices across the United States.
OH believes in serving America’s military families in their time of need because they have served all of us in our nation’s time of need. Our organization’s core values (Do What’s Right, Respect Others, Perform with Excellence, and Gratitude) guide our activities every day. Currently, OH provides a robust array of valued and life-changing programs and services for military families and post 9/11 wounded, ill, or injured veterans that combine direct assistance with access to case management and critical support tools and resources. With an overarching goal of preventing chronic, long-term financial struggles for military families, our research and data-driven programs offer RELIEF through Critical Financial Assistance and rent-free transitional housing programs, RESILIENCY through Homes on the Homefront which awards mortgage-free homes and the Hearts of Valor caregiver support program for wounded warrior caregivers, and RECURRING FAMILY SUPPORT through morale-building efforts including Military Child of the Year, Back-to-School Brigade, Star-Spangled Baby Showers, Holiday Meals for Military, and Holiday Toy Distribution events.
Military Child of the Year® Awards (MCOY): Recognizes an exceptional child from each branch of the service and the National Guard for their leadership, resiliency, and commitment to education at our annual gala in Washington, D.C.
Back-to-School Brigade (BTSB): Provides backpacks filled with school supplies to military children to help prepare them for the school year. Since 2008, we have provided over 465,000 backpacks to military children across the country.
Star-Spangled Babies (SSB): Supports new and expectant parents with essential baby supplies and community support events. Since 2008, we have supported over 19,000 new and expectant parents.

Since 2010, the Holiday Meals for Military (HMFM) program has served holiday meals to nearly 600,000 military family members and Holiday Toy Drives have collected and distributed over $7.6 million in toys to military children.
