Nourish Pierce County (Formerly FISH Food Banks)

Nourish Pierce County (formerly FISH Food Banks of Pierce County) is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization. Our mission is to provide nutritious food and support services to people in need with compassion, dignity and respect. Our goal is to provide each client with enough nutritious food to make three meals a day for three consecutive days. We were honored to have been named “Non-Profit” of the Year” by the Tacoma-Pierce County Chamber of Commerce in 2014.
Nourish operates 21 active food bank distribution sites throughout Pierce County. We depend on you, our compassionate communities, to serve the tens of thousands of individuals and families struggling with food-and-nutrition insecurity.
Nourish Pierce County is the largest network of food banks in the county. In 2019, we served 66,000 individuals – that’s 7% of the Pierce County population. Because of the COVID-19 health crisis and resulting unemployment, we have been serving record numbers of people since the spring of 2020. With only 17 full-time employees, Nourish depends on the services of 1,000 volunteers to help maintain the operations of our 25 distribution sites and warehouse facility. Many of our volunteers are retirement age, so they have been staying home to safeguard their health. While we have been incredibly fortunate to have the service of the Washington National Guard, we desperately need to welcome new volunteers to assist with packing and distributing boxes of food at our food banks.
The safety of our volunteers, clients and staff is the number one priority for Nourish. Learn more about our COVID-19 Safety Measures and Response.

To volunteer with us you will have to create a separate Get Connected profile with Nourish PC, as it allows us to vet our prospective volunteers. Once you are vetted you will be able to view and respond our volunteer opportunities.
