Description

Repack Project volunteers transform bulk food shipments into family-sized portions that are ready to help feed the community! At our Lakewood Distribution Center, you and your fellow volunteers might find yourselves bagging up oats, pasta, or rice or sorting donated food. Once repackaged the food is ready to go out to the 75+ Pierce County food pantries, meal sites, and shelters that we serve.

Attire:

  • Masks are required at all times in the Repack Room.
  • Closed-toe shoes are required. Volunteers in flip-flops or sandals will be unable to repack.
  • If open food is being repacked, hair nets will be required - you are welcome to bring a hat to wear instead.
  • Please keep in mind there is always the potential to get food on your clothes.

Qualifications:

  • Volunteers need to be able to lift up to 50 pounds either individually or with a partner.
  • When repacking produce, volunteers will need to be able to bend down to grab the produce out of bins that are at floor level.
  • We ask volunteers who have a cold or illness that can be spread by coughing, sneezing, or touching to please stay at home.

Minimum Age: The minimum age to volunteer as an individual at the Repack Project is 16. Youth ages 12-15 can volunteer with an adult chaperone. All youth need to bring a completed Parental Consent Form.
