Join Forterra and the Port of Tacoma in restoring the Gog-Le-Hi-Te wetlands in Tacoma. This wetland complex and vital habitat sits right at the mouth of the Puyallup river. Young salmon use the estuary to smoltify as they travel to the ocean and birds of all shapes and sizes use this landscape as a stopover point in the Pacific flyway. Volunteers will be working to care for native trees and shrubs that were planted this winter. We will be weeding and mulching around these plantings to ensure that they root and are set up to further enhance this important site. Tools, gloves, water, and instruction provided. Please wear sturdy close-toed shoes and weather-appropriate layers.
Everyone can help! All ages are welcome and no experience is necessary. We provide all of the tools and training needed. So bring along your friends and family and get your hands dirty!
