Warehouse Assistants receive inventory and stock donated items of all kinds, including but not limited to food, clothing and dry goods. The Warehouse stocks our Food Bank and is a vital part of providing basic human needs to our clients.

Location: The Salvation Army Tacoma Corps Warehouse 1501 6th Ave., Tacoma, WA 98405
Responsibilities and Duties
- Receiving food, clothing and other in-kind donations
- Taking inventory and entering it into a computer data-base
- Proper disposal of food, garbage and recyclable waste
- Proper storage and organization of items kept in warehouse
- Use of equipment such as hand-lift as appropriate with training
- Certification for and proper use of forklift
- Some cleaning such as mopping floors, keeping equipment clean and cleaning warehouse refrigeration and freezer units as needed
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Complete all aspects of the volunteer application before starting service, including clearance of background check
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Basic data-entry skills or willingness to learn
- Be able to lift at least 40 pounds to waist level
- Be courteous and respectful to clients, staff, volunteers and other visitors to our campus
- Follow policies and procedures as outlined by The Salvation Army Tacoma Corps Volunteer Handbook
